Race car to feature logos of Transition Resource Action Center and Central Dallas Ministries.

Texas Star Racing wants to raise awareness of how TRAC and CDM help those in need

_____________________________________________________________________________________

DALLAS, TEX. – Texas Star Racing founder Joe Stinson began volunteering at TRAC (Transition Action Resource Center) after he read about the organization’s reputation for helping teens who are aging out of the foster care system.

Once he saw firsthand the benefit provided by TRAC, Mr. Stinson offered to feature the logos for TRAC and one of its major partners - Central Dallas Ministries – on his race car.  Race fans will see these two new logos on driver Blake Harris’ car during the 2005 season.

Mr. Stinson said this is one way to get more Texans involved in giving money and time to TRAC and Central Dallas Ministries, since many people – like Mr. Stinson a short time ago – have no idea how difficult the process can be for foster youth.

When approached with the idea, Evy Kay Ritzen, TRAC Project Manager thought it would be a creative way to get people involved who may not have heard of TRAC and the needs of transitioning foster youth. “We are so thankful to have people like Joe and the Texas Star Racing Team involved with our youth.”

On March 19th, Thunder Hill Raceway in Kyle Texas (south of Austin) will be the test site for Texas Star Racing which races in the Texas Super Racing Series.  The first official Texas Super Racing Series race will be Saturday, March 26th at the Thunder Hill Raceway; the gates open at 10am and the race starts at 3pm.

April 9th Mr. Stinson and Blake Harris will be hosting a cookout at TRAC, 3108 Live Oak St., Dallas, for the community to meet TRAC and CDM staff, learn more about Texas Star Racing, and to have a good time. For more information please contact Kathaleen Dean at 214-370-9300 ext. 20.

The Transition Resource Action Center (TRAC) is a one-stop center that offers access to affordable housing, livable-wage jobs and a safety net for young adults transitioning out of substitute care, which includes foster care and the juvenile system.

Youth, ages 14-24, who are in substitute care or will be emancipating from substitute care, can access TRAC to receive assistance with education, employment, housing and basic life skills like budgeting and decision-making. TRAC employees, volunteers and mentors provide opportunities for these youth to achieve their hopes, dreams and aspirations through meaningful relationships.

Central Dallas Ministries is an expansive community development organization that has been a resource in East Dallas for 17 years.  CDM runs medical clinics, food pantries, a law practice and programs in jobs training and placement, children’s education and affordable housing. CDM also supports TRAC’s work by having a home for youth aging out of foster care and providing other services.
