| 2004 Preparations for the 2004 TSRS season began with making car repairs from our November 29th test session and purchasing a trailer. Following completion of chassis and front clip replacement, we agreed on a paint scheme designed by Chris. Special thanks to James & Melissa Race for their involvement in taping off and painting the car with the new color scheme. Thanks to Jason Ilich for the incredible graphics. We moved into our first race shop located in Keller, Texas. Thanks to John Sliney for sharing the space with us! We placed in the top 3 for the Best Appearing Car contest for TSRS at our first race at Corpus Christi Speedway in March, 2004. Thanks to John Nick, Rod Miller, Jeff Johnson and James & Melissa Race for helping us at our inaugural race with Chris behind the wheel. Our first sponsor, Discover Flooring (Rod Miller) accompanied the team to Corpus Christi for our first race. In April, 2004 Chris was offered an incredible opportunity to go work for MacDonald Motorsports in North Carolina. It was sad to see Chris leave our team but we were all very happy for him as he was getting to live his dream of working for a NASCAR team. Chris has remained close to our team and has always been interested in our progress. After Chris left for North Carolina, Joe searched for a driver that fit the objectives and goals of our race team. Following two months of talking with other drivers, Joe decided to sell the car. Joe received a phone call from a friend one day recommending that he talk with Dan and Blake Harris before reaching a final decision to sell the car. Joe met with Dan, Blake and Randy Yates in mid-May and agreed to test the car and Blake at Red River Speedway in Wichita Falls in two weeks. Blake did an outstanding job driving the car and everyone agreed that Blake would become the second driver for Texas Star Racing. His previous asphalt race experience in the All Star Truck Series and his driving style made him a great driver for our team. 2004 was a very successful season and the team was even more excited about 2005 and beyond. Blake was nicknamed "Young Gun" as the youngest driver in TSRS and was a fan favorite. Blake's family and friends were extremely supportive of our race team and were always a pleasure to spend time with. Thanks to the Knowlton's for their involvement and opening up their home to us when we traveled to San Antonio! Thanks to Randy and Ray for their time and involvement. It was an exciting season as Blake drove the #14 for the remainder of the 2004 season and plans for making the car even better for 2005 began.
